Can I sell with an old roof or no insurance?

Direct answer

No Florida rule found requires a new roof or a current policy to sell; the roof decides what a buyer can insure. In Florida, an insurer may not refuse a homeowner's policy solely for roof age under 15 years, or at 15 years or older if an inspection shows 5 or more years of useful life (Fla. Stat. §627.7011(5)).

Fla. Stat. §§627.7011(5) and 553.844(5), Citizens Property Insurance public pages, 42 U.S.C. §4012a and FEMA flood hazard data, checked October 29, 2026. An insurance agent confirms eligibility for one property. These rules govern what a buyer can insure. · Methodology
